South Eastern Region
The smaller layout was featured a 1998 issue in "Model Railroading" magazine and featured handlaid code 70 rails and almost 22 scratched turnouts. After almost 11 years of constant construction and display, the old LG&W was really showing its age and needed to be replaced. Our philosophy is to try to show what is possible and achieveable in the hobby of model railroading.
Our home was located in the old Westlake Mall in Bessemer, Al. We lost this home when the mall was sold. We spent several months in storage, totally unable to work on it. Then we met the McWane Science Center
We are currently located in the McWane Center basement, downtown Birmingham, near the Old Alabama Theater. The McWane Center has a lot of very educational exhibits as well as an IMAX Theater. Be sure to come there and see our display during the Christmas Season. Here we have repaired and even built some other layouts that are on display during Christmas. We've even built a "Hogwarts" layout featuring the school and the town.
