More Locomotives and Cars
This is an Atlas/Kato Rs-1. It is Factory painted. If I had anymore original GM&O maroon, it would have been painted into that color.
This is an Akane USRA light 2-10-2. It was the first brass engine that I ever bought.
Stewart-Bowser F7. Gift to me from Bowser for providing lettering information to them for the model.
My number of locomotives have been going up to the point to where I'll actually have to start selling some off. I have only actually bought 1, a Southern Railway Ms-1 2-8-2. This is a USRA light design, and will go with the other one I own. I have actually been given many more locomotives, that I'll have to decide which ones to keep. I was actually shocked that in the past couple of years, I have been given a P2K 2-8-8-2, a brass Reading 4-8-4, a brass H5 2-6-6-2 and several diesels. Now the Alabama Central is a steam road, and except for 2 of the diesels, none of the others are of a type ever used by the Southern. I have always been of the philosophy that you never have more locomotives than you can easily maintain yourself, as you get older. I had planned to keep my roster around 25-27 locomotives, and I counted them and I have 50 or more! So I got to go through them and really see how many and which ones I truly want to keep! This is still something I need to do as I haven't done this by Oct 2022.
My cars are also in that situation as well. For operations, I'll be using the Rail-Op program for generating switchlists, and traffic for the railroad. In that regard, I've been entering the cars into the program, and to date have 348 cars in the computer. My layout is only 17' x 23' and that is actually about 2.5X's the number the layout can truely support. Nevermind the fact that I still have about another 20-25 cars in various stages of completion, or that I have about the same number in kits left to even start!. So like my locomotives, I'll be cutting that number down, but this is going to be a greater cut than even the locomotives are going to be. Still needs to be done, again.
